On October 1, 2015, Ontario’s general minimum wage will increase from $11.00 per hour to $11.25 per hour. This increase comes as a result of Bill 18, the Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2014, S.O. 2014, c.10, which received Royal Assent on November 20, 2014. Bill 18 introduced a formula for the calculation of yearly minimum wage increases in Ontario commencing in 2015. The formula ties minimum wage increases to Ontario’s Consumer Price Index. The increases to Ontario’s general minimum wage will occur on October 1 of every year.
