US pharmaceutical companies with operations in India may face investigation by the US government. A report issued by the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare, of the Indian parliament, indicated that as many as 33 new pharmaceutical products approved between January 2008 and October 2010 did not undergo the requisite clinical trials. The report alleged “inappropriate relationships” between US drug manufacturers and Indian regulators. The report also alleges “unlawful drug approvals”.
