Following this year’s announcement in the Summer Budget that there would be a review into the regulation of Claims Management Companies (CMCs), the House of Commons has published a briefing paper.
The paper outlines the regulatory structure surrounding CMCs and their activities, and sets out the government’s announcement for the proposed reforms.
The paper also illustrates some of the following issues and guidance surrounding CMCs in relation to:
- The proposed ‘cap’ on fees applied by CMCs;
- Unsolicited text messages;
- Cold calling; and
- The process to complain about a CMC.
