Having threatened to either increase or remove altogether the cap on the 5% issue fee for money claims above £10,000, the government has announced that it will stay, for now. This means that for claims above £200,000 the issue fee remains capped at £10,000. The government give as the particular reason for deciding against a further increase that it is too soon since the April 2015 increases to understand their impact.

Civil court fees which were unaffected by the April changes will now increase by 10% (claims for a non monetary remedy or for permission to apply for judicial review for example). These will take effect once the statutory instrument implementing the increases has been approved.
