Two Development Ministry officials allegedly sought a 120,000 euro bribe from two businessmen set to make a 4.7 million euro investment in the Peloponnese.

The officials were in charge of assessing whether projects could qualify for state funding. They are accused of demanding bribes from the businessmen who were thinking of making a further investment.

The police were alerted to the demands and a sting was put in place to trap the pair in action. The businessmen arranged to meet the officials, where they were both arrested for accepting marked banknotes.
