The National Labor Relations Board recently announced via Twitter that the tally of election ballots is now available online. The Board has posted over 17,000 election results going as far back as 1994. These records provide comprehensive data about each election, including the city and state of the election; the employer; the election date; and the number of eligible voters, void ballots, votes for the union, votes against, and challenged ballots.

Companies and unions now have a wealth of election information accessible at their fingertips. Companies can easily search their city and state to see information about union elections affecting similar companies and to gauge how much support a union gained during an election. The pro-union Board has not yet explained why it decided to release this information, given that unionization rates have plummeted over the last 25 years, but we are interested to see how unions and companies utilize this information to further their causes.
