Today, 17th July 2015, the UK Government announced that Cabinet Office will take over from the Ministry of Justice for FOI policy. Additionally, an independent commission will review FOI over the last ten years to see how there can be even greater transparency whilst protecting advice and discussions within Government that need to be protected.

We may well see even more transparency in Government contracting, purchasing, invoicing and service performance.  The data privacy potential impacts will need to be considered carefully as well.

You can find out more here – https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/freedom-of-information-new-commission – and the commission is due to report by the end of November.
