On December 3rd, 2015 the National Assembly of Nicaragua passed the Act No. 920, entitled "Law of Public Registries Rates of the National Registration System" which entered into force on January 1st, 2016.

Many of the Registry fees have held their value; however, a reduction can be seen on the fees regarding to the real rights procedures. Similarly, the lien services and registration of the guarantees supporting the mercantile operations are reduced.

On the other hand, small and medium-sized enterprises will enjoy a reduction of up to fifty percent for the registration of property and rights. Likewise, the Law also establishes special rates for the agricultural sector.

According to legislators, the object of the reform is to obtain the budget revenues that will help with the modernization of the National Registration System to continue providing services to the population and the various economic agents. Likewise, it’s planned to build two new Public Registries in the city of Managua and in the department of Jinotega.
