Talks have begun on the UK’s reform deal at the EU summit currently being held in Brussels. EU president Donald Tusk said that there had been ‘some progress’ on the first day, but that ‘a lot still remains to be done’.  Divisions on the proposed deal are said to be deeper than expected, although David Cameron appears to have won the crucial support of Angela Merkel, who is reported to have said she has shared many of his wishes "for years." Formal talks resumed this morning.
