The Ontario Ministry of Labour announced last week that it is seeking public input on closing the gender wage gap in Ontario. According to Statistics Canada, the gender wage gap in this province ranges from 12 – 31.5% and is most pronounced for aboriginal and racialized women as well as women with disabilities.
The process will involve public consultations to be held in 12 communities across Ontario beginning in the York Region on October 26, 2015 and with a Toronto consultation being held on November 16, 2015. Feedback can also be submitted by email to email@example.com or via Twitter by using #wagegapON, and is requested by January 15, 2016.
