In An NHS Trust v HN [2016] EWCOP 43, Peter Jackson J was called upon to determine an urgent serious medical treatment case out of hours in circumstances. We note the case not because of its outcome but because of the fact that it serves as a reminder that the Official Solicitor does not offer an out of hours service, and was therefore not in a position to represent P. The case should therefore serve as a reminder both to bring medical treatment cases within office hours if possible, and also to ensure that the Official Solicitor is served with papers as early as possible to offer such assistance as he can during office hours.
