From 6 April 2016, the statutory limit on a gross week’s pay was increased from £475 to £479. Amongst other things, this figure is used to calculate statutory redundancy payments. The maximum basic award in unfair dismissal cases has risen to £14,370 and the compensatory award has also risen slightly from £78,335 to £78,962.

BIS has updated its guidance on helping employers comply with national minimum wage rates, updating the rates and adding extra information on the national living wage (which took effect on 1 April 2016).
