Daniel Rush, a former organizer for the UFCW’s medical cannabis and hemp division, was charged with accepting bribes and kickbacks. He is accused of accepting benefits to endorse prospective marijuana dispensary operators and of referring workers’ compensation cases to a friend in exchange for kickbacks. The criminal complaint further alleges that he took $600,000 in loans from a dispensary operator and spent it at casinos and to pay local Hells Angels cell phone bills. In exchange, Rush ensured union endorsements and fixed the organizing process against workers.
