As part of the Government's overhaul of the visitor visa categories, those individuals who wish to study in the UK for a short period of time will no longer apply for / enter under the student visitor visa / child visitor category.
Instead, a ‘short-term student’ and ‘short-term student (child)’ route will be introduced on 24 April 2015 which will replace the previous routes.
The new student categories will largely mirror the current student visitor routes mentioned above. The short-term student visa will cover the current six month student visitor and the eleven month extended student visitor routes.
Those currently holding a long-term visit visa in one of the previous categories, and who want to study a course, will need to apply for a short-term student visa after 24 April as they will only be allowed to do incidental study on their existing visitor visa.
