The Basel Committee is consulting on the identification and management of step-in risk. This is the risk that a bank will provide financial support to an entity beyond, or in the absence of, its contractual obligations should the entity experience financial stress. As part of its G20 commitments, the Basel Committee needs to formalise its approach to identifying, assessing and addressing step-in risk potentially embedded in banks’ relationships with shadow banking entities and others. Consultation closes on 17 March 2016. (Source: Basel Committee Consults on Step-in Risk)
