Companies that experience data breaches compromising the protected personal information of more than 250 North Dakota residents will now be required to notify the state attorney general in addition to affected individuals.  S.B. 2214 also extends North Dakota’s breach notification requirements to any entity that “owns or licenses” computerized data containing North Dakota residents’ personal information, not just those entities that “conduct business” in the state.  The amendments take effect August 1, 2015.
