The European Commission has approved Romania’s fund supplementation request for the construction of two motorway sections

On 18 November 2014, the European Commission decided to grant EUR 262 million to the Romanian State, meant to cover the construction costs for two motorway sections, bringing the European Union’s contribution in this sector to a total of EUR 439 million. From this amount, EUR 287 million is intended for the Arad-Timișoara motorway, while EUR 151.5 million for the Constanța Municipality bypass road at motorway level. These two projects had initially been financed by State budget contributions, by European Commission grants, as well as by loans from the European Investment Bank.
