U.S. Senate

  • On April 14, 2015, the Senate voted 92-8 to pass the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 without amendments, which permanently replaces the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) and extends CHIP through FY2017, among other provisions. The President signed the measure into law on April 16th, thereby preventing Medicare physician’s fees from being slashed by 21 percent, as was scheduled to occur in the absence of Congressional action. Due to the timing of the bill signing, some doctors’ claims will be subject to cuts, and then re-processed at the appropriate rate.
