On September 6, 2016, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the details of submissions for the 2017 Donation Acceptance Program.

The submission period will remain open for 40 days, from October 3, 2016 through 5 P.M. EST on November 11, 2016. This submission period applies to proposals that are expected to cost more than $3 million (e.g. new facilities, major renovations, expansions, or other large-scale infrastructure improvements). Proposals that are expected to cost $3 million or less (e.g. small land donations, minor facility enhancements and lane expansions, and equipment and technologies), may be submitted year-round. All proposals, regardless of estimated cost, should be submitted via email to 559donationsacceptance@cbp.dhs.gov .

Proposals will be evaluated based on their ability to satisfy the criteria set forth in the DAP Framework. Please refer to the large-scale donation proposal template for a recommended outline from which to develop and structure your proposal.

Prospective partners are welcome to share their conceptual ideas with the DAP in advance of preparing a formal submission for feedback regarding proposal viability and for other general proposal and process-related assistance. Finally, the DAP will be hosting a live webinar on October 11, 2016 to provide an overview of its donation acceptance process and answer any other questions you might have.
