Welcome to Employment Edit, our pick of the key employment law developments from the last couple of weeks:
- Enterprise Bill – BIS has published a factsheet summarising the measures in the Enterprise Bill, which has now had its first reading in the House of Lords. It includes the introduction of a £95,000 cap on exit payments made to public sector workers - more information about this is set out in our briefing.
- Fit for Work – employers in England and Wales are now able to refer employees who have been absent from work for four weeks or more to the Fit for Work service for a free occupational health assessment.
- Rugby World Cup – Acas has issued new guidance to help employers deal with requests for time off and performance issues that could arise over the Rugby World Cup period.
- Tips – BIS has issued a call for evidence on tips, gratuities, cover and service charges to gather information on how these are collected, how much employers deduct from their employees and views on whether the government should limit the amount an employer can keep.
