- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has recently adopted a new policy of concentrating the agency's enforcement resources on criminal aliens, illegal border crossers, repeat violators of the U.S. immigration laws, and fugitives from immigration courts. This approach has already resulted in record high levels of enforcement activity. In FY 2011 that ended on September 30, 2011, ICE removed 396,906 unauthorized individuals from the U.S. Per ICE, 90% of those removed fall under ICE's enforcement priorities.
- As a result of ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) efforts, the owners of Aquila Farms LLC, a Michigan dairy farm, have been sentenced to a three year probation and ordered to pay fines of nearly $235,000 for hire and employment of illegal aliens. The farm owners were found guilty of aiding and abetting each other in bringing in the unauthorized workforce.
