FATF has issued a statement on the progress of Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Sao Tome and Principe towards addressing AML problems. Most jurisdictions have made some progress but FATF remains concerned. It says Turkmenistan has made no progress. FATF will also carry out studies on the casino and gambling sector and the effects of the economic crisis on AML and CFT initiatives. Finally, it has published a summary of its evaluation of South Africa's AML and CFT system, which is largely at least partially compliant with FATF recommendations, but needs to address some issues such as PEPs and higher risk countries, and an update on Italy, which has made significant progress in addressing areas in which it was non-compliant.
