On 29 July 2016, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 453 "On Amendments to the Order on Issuance of Permanent and Temporary Residence Permits", dated 22 July 2016, came into effect (the "Resolution").  The Resolution, among other, has established the timeframes for exchanging permanent and temporary residence permits.

In particular, under the Resolution, the relevant permit must be exchanged within one month after any of the following has occurred: (i) changes of the name of the foreigner, (ii) discovery of discrepancies, and/or (iii) impossibility to further use the permit. The application must be submitted to the relevant local office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine (the "Migration Service").  If the above circumstances have necessitated change of the passport, the application must be submitted no later than one month after the new passport is obtained.

The same timeframes are established for exchange of the permanent residence permit for those foreign nationals who reach 25 or 45 years.  The documents for exchange of the residence permit must be submitted to the Migration Service within one month after the person has reached the relevant age or obtained a new passport (if a new passport is required in connection with reaching this age).

ATTENTION: The permits, if not exchanged within the established timeframes, will become invalid.
