EP has approved the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), which will replace the Insurance Mediation Directive. EP describes the key features of the IDD as to protect consumers by regulating those who sell insurance (including taking appropriate measures on professional negligence cover and to ensure customers’ premiums are safe) and to provide clear information on costs and sales incentives. Once the Council has formally adopted the IDD and it is published in the OJEU, Member States will have two years to implement it. See also our article. (Source: EP Approves IDD)
