The Mortgage Advice Bureau has published statistics in relation to mortgage lending for September 2015.  September has seen the largest number of loans approved for existing homeowners in a single month since October 2008. Total mortgage lending in September 2015 increased with gross lending up by £700 million over the month. The Mortgage Advice Bureau is expecting an increase in re-mortgages, with homeowners trying to make the most of the competitive interest rates before they begin to rise. In addition, 96% of purchase customers (in September) opted for fixed rates, insinuating that new borrowers are also trying to take advantage of the low interest rates and low monthly repayments.
