Aged care providers should be aware that the requirements for home care agreements are changing on 1 July 2015.

The User Rights Principles 2014 have been amended to include some provisions that will affect the contents of the Home Care Agreements.

Providers should make sure their agreements to reflect the changes to the Charter of Care Recipients’ Rights and Responsibilities – Home Care which now explicitly deal with consumer directed care.

The agreements also have to include new clauses dealing with the need to provide monthly statements of expenditure as well as what will happen to home care fees paid by a care recipient in advance before they terminate their Agreement.
