On 30 March 2016 IVASS published Consultation paper no. 7 intended to amend Regulation 5/2006, by introducing new methods for transmitting requests and communications required for the purpose of keeping the Single register of insurance and reinsurance intermediaries (Registro Unico degli Intermediari assicurativi e riassicurativi - RUI).

IVASS’ objective is to provide a fully digital system for RUI management.

To this end, the Consultation paper proposes the introduction of the requirement, for insurance and reinsurance intermediaries, to adopt the electronic signature (advanced, qualified or digital) according to the requirements of Legislative Decree no. 82 of 7 March 2005 for signing requests/communications related to the handling of the RUI.

This obligation is expressly extended also to foreign intermediaries registered in the list annexed to the RUI.
