The Pensions Regulator has published a discussion paper which outlines its key findings and challenges from its research into the work of trustees and asks trustees to answer some key questions to assist with future regulatory policy decisions.

The paper, which can be found here, sets out what the Pensions Regulator is doing to educate and support trustees and considers what more could be done.  As part of this, it asks a number of questions and invites responses by 9 September 2016.  Questions include:

  • should there be barriers to becoming a professional trustee in order to ensure consistent high standards amongst this group?; and
  • how can it be ensured that the trustees are aware of, understand, and are able to apply, the Trustee Knowledge and Understanding (TKU) framework.
