The Council has published ECB’s opinion regarding the proposed one-year delay to MiFID 2, MiFIR, and certain aspects of the Market Abuse Regulation (EU MAR) and Central Securities Depositories Regulation package. ECB notes that the delay should not have an effect on the adoption of Level 2 measures and proposes that the transposition deadlines be deferred by one year in addition to the one-year extension to the application date for consistency purposes. EP has since updated the relevant procedure files to indicate that the proposed legislation will be read at the plenary sitting on 7 June.
