Some businesses don’t accept unsigned credit cards. But the rules are different for unsigned Green Cards (also known as Permanent Resident Cards). The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has waived the signature requirement on some Green Cards since February 2015. When they issue a Green Card without a signature, the Card simply says “Signature Waived” on the front and back of the Card where the signature is normally located. A Green Card with the Signature Waived designation is still an acceptable List A document for Form I-9 purposes and establishes both identity and work authorization.
