EU online dispute resolution platform launched: EU Dg Justice announced launch of the multilingual online dispute resolution platform provided for by EU Regulation 524/2013 this week. The Commission claims that 117 alternative dispute resolution bodies across 17 member states are ‘connected’ to the platform (including the UK Chartered Trading Standards Institute acting as one of seven approval bodies approved by the UK Government which has approved 24 individual ADR schemes to date). The intention of the EU Commission is to cover all states and all sectors as soon as possible providing an alternative low cost route to dispute resolution.
