Theresa May has visited Germany this week to hold talks with Angela Merkel to discuss Brexit. Ms May confirmed that the UK will not begin official negotiations on leaving the EU this year, but aimed to secure a "sensible and orderly departure" which would take time. Ms May said that the UK wanted to retain close economic links and that it would not ‘walk away’ from Europe.  Ms Merkel agreed that both sides wished to get the best result for Britain, but said that there should be more clarify on timing, insisting that no formal negotiations could take place until Article 50 had been triggered.
