The latest statistics on companies entering external administration and insolvency appointments have been released by ASIC for the periods of December 2014 and January 2015. 

The number of insolvency appointments in December 2014 was steady, but in January 2015 it dipped to 654, the lowest figure since January 2011. Similarly, the number of companies entering external administration was steady in December 2014 but dipped to 484 in January 2015. 

Queensland showed a spike in the December 2014 figures for both insolvency appointments and external administration, while New South Wales fell by more than the average in January 2015.

External administrations of companies in the information media & telecommunications sectors increased throughout those months, while Manufacturing was steady and Construction and Other (business & personal services) decreased.
