On June 16, 2015, Governor Rick Scott signed into law HB 87, a bill revising the construction defect claim process.  As previously blogged on April 29th, this is a substantial revision of Florida’s Construction Defect Act, Chapter 558, requiring property owners to, among other things, provide more detailed notice of the alleged defect and imposing sanctions on property owners who make meritless claims.  The new law takes effect October 1, 2015, and is expected to be the subject of much controversy and dispute.
