At the beginning of November, the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) confirmed that a nationwide audit of retained human tissue would be carried out by police forces across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to identify samples which had been taken for investigative purposes. As part of this audit, trusts may be approached to confirm whether or not they retain any such samples.
