ESMA updates fund Q&As: ESMA has published updated versions of its questions and answers on:

  • Application of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD): the updates cover reporting issues; and
  • Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) and other UCITS issues: the new questions relate to the role of a counterparty in a financial derivative instrument, and to cash collateral reinvested in short-term money market funds.

ESMA publishes CCP colleges review: ESMA has published a peer review analysis of supervisory activities of regulators in relation to authorising and supervising Central Counterparties (CCPs) under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR). This is the first analysis and looked at activities from June 2013, during which period 18 CCPs filed an authorisation application, 14 CCPs received authorisation and 18 colleges were established. ESMA does not think it needs to issue any guidelines or recommendations following the review. (Source: ESMA Publishes CCP Colleges Review)
