Germany’s Labour Minister has indicated support for the UK’s proposed reforms on welfare benefits for migrants and is reported to have said that Germany would itself like to see these rules tightened. Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble added that a Brexit would be a “disaster”. The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, is reported to have said that the EU needed more of Britain's economic "culture" and that he believed a deal could be done in February. However, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has warned that Cameron's demands for reform could not be met at any price, albeit that a British EU exit would be a "tragedy", and that Cameron was unlikely to win over fellow EU leaders by the time of the Brussels summit.
