Today we’re joined by Peter Kucik, a former Senior Sanctions Adviser at OFAC and a Principal at Inle Advisory Group, a Myanmar-centric business consultancy.
Our grand plans to focus the discussion on Cuba and the State Sponsor of Terrorism designation were thwarted by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, which only an hour before we were scheduled to record, issued the first major Burma SDN delisting in several years by removing sanctions on Win Aung and his company Dagon International. Win Aung is the first of the so-called “cronies” to be removed and demonstrates that the U.S. government is working on removing Burmese SDNs.
We did eventually get our Cuba fix in and tried to bring some much-need #realtalk to the sanctions discussion.
