As indicated in our alert of 11 December, the European Commission has published revised thresholds for the old (2004) Procurement Directives and their corresponding UK sterling values, bringing them into line with those recently announced for the new (2014) Directives. They will apply from 1 January 2016 to procurements conducted under the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2006 and, for practical purposes, there will be no further change in the relevant thresholds on implementation of the Utilities Contracts Directive 2014, expected in early April 2016.

Revised thresholds for the Defence and Security Directive 2009 were also published yesterday. The revised thresholds are:

For the Utilities Directive 2004

Supply contracts, service contracts and design contests: € 418,000 (was € 414,000) or   £328,352 on new corresponding values (was £ 345,028)

Works contracts: € 5,225,000 (was € 5,186,000) or £ 4,104,394 on new corresponding values (was £ 4,322,012)

For the Defence and Security Directive 2009

Supply and service contracts: € 418,000 (was € 414,000) or £ 328,352 on new corresponding values (was £ 345,028)

Works contracts: € 5,225,000 (was € 5,186,000) or £ 4,104,394 on new corresponding values (was £ 4,322,012)
