Following a call for information in January 2015, the CMA has pub- lished a report into the collection and use of data. The report compiles evidence received from businesses, consumers, regulators and aca- demics. The report found that although businesses collect all kinds of data about consumers, consumers do not fully understand what data is collected and how it is used. Equally, the report raises concerns about how effective privacy policies, cookie notices and terms and conditions are in enabling consumers to control how their data is dealt with.
