The Soho Theatre Company Ltd was fined £20,000 after pleading guilty to breaches of s.3(1) HSWA and Regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The incident occurred on 9 June 2012 when the Stage Manager, Rachel Presdee, was preparing the stage for the evening show. Whilst she was searching for the light switches in the darkness, she fell through an unlocked and unguarded “Juliet” door located off the main staircase and fell three metres causing her severe injuries leaving her paralysed.

In addition to the fine, the Soho Theatre Company was also ordered to pay costs of £10,000.
