BBA said everyone must ensure that money borrowed can be repaid and lenders must make funds available to those who can afford repayments. It said banks provide most mortgage funding and pay attention to affordability. But it stressed highrisk borrowers, like the self-employed and first-time buyers, should not be cut out of the market.
