European Commission publishes preliminary report in e-commerce sector inquiry

The European Commission has published its preliminary report as part of its ongoing sector inquiry into e-commerce. The report identifies a number of business practices which the Commission considers may raise competition concerns and indicates that the Commission may open case specific investigations to ensure compliance with the EU competition rules. European Commission fines ARA €6 million for abuse of dominance in Austrian waste management market

The European Commission has fined Altstoff Recycling Austria (ARA) €6 million for abusing a dominant position, by blocking competitors from entering the Austrian market for management of household packaging waste. The fine was reduced by 30% to reflect ARA's cooperation with the Commission. Click here.
