New effort to break the deadlock on third-country funds *

On 14 April 2010, the Financial Times reported that Jean-Paul Gauzes, the MEP responsible for steering the AIFM Directive through the EU's parliamentary process, had proposed a two tier approach to the registration of non-EU funds, prior to the scheduled vote on the Directive by the Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee on 27 April.

ECON vote postponed *

European Union - May 11 2010
The European Parliament's Committee on Economic Affairs (ECON) has postponed its vote on the draft directive on alternative investment fund managers (due to be held yesterday) until 17 May, the day before the rescheduled Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) vote on the Spanish Presidency's compromise text.
