On 7 March 2012 various amendments to Federal Laws No. 102-FZ1 (the Mortgage Law), No. 122-FZ2 (the Registration Law) and No. 229-FZ3 (the Enforcement Law) entered into force as a result of Federal Law No. 405-FZ4, dated 6 December 2011 (the Law).

On December 5 and 6, 2011 the President of the Russian Federation signed Federal Law No. 401-FZ “Amendments to the Federal Law ‘On the Protection of Competition’ and Certain Statutes of the Russian Federation” (the Law) and Federal Law No. 404-FZ “Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation,” collectively known as the “third antimonopoly package.”

On 16 November 2011, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law No. 322-FZ (the Law), which by enacting a set of amendments to the Foreign Strategic Investments Law (the Strategic Investments Law) aims at liberalizing the rules applicable to foreign investments in Russian strategic companies (i.e. Russian legal entities conducting activities of strategic importance for national defence and security).

The long-discussed changes to reduce the regulatory burden of hiring foreign nationals are scheduled to take effect February 15, 2011 as a consequence of amendments to several legislative acts related to the employment of foreign nationals.
