Last month, the USPTO opened its very first satellite office in Detroit and announced the planned opening of three additional offices in Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, Colorado (Denver); San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, California (Silicon Valley); and Dallas-Ft. Worth-Arlington, Texas (Dallas).

On July 26, 2012, the USPTO released in the Federal Register proposed changes to the patent rules and examination guidelines for implementation of the America Invents Act’s (AIA’s) change to a “first-inventor-to-file” system.
