Artists’ Resale Right extended to heirs *

With effect from 1 January 2012 the provisions of the EU Directive on the resale right for the benefit of the author of an original work of art have been extended in Ireland to the heirs of the artist and will last for a period of 70 years after the death of the artist.

Review of copyright legislation in Ireland *

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD has set up a Copyright Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Eoin O'Dell of Trinity College, Dublin, to examine current Irish copyright legislation framework to identify any areas that might be deemed to create barriers to innovation and to make recommendations to resolve any problems identified.
