EEOC updates policy on employer’s use of arrest and conviction records *

On April 25, 2012, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) issued a revised policy, titled, Enforcement Guidance on the Consideration of Arrest and Conviction Records in Employment Decisions Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e, which provides insight to employers on instances where use of an individual’s arrest or conviction records in employment decisions may expose employers to liability for employment discrimination.

Act now to ensure compliance with the New York Wage Theft Prevention Act *

To avoid strict penalty provisions, all New York employers must act now to comply with the new requirements established by the New York Wage Theft Prevention Act (the "Act"), which is effective as of April 9, 2011.
