Texas Supreme Court upholds property tax exemption for CHDOs *

The Texas Supreme Court issued an opinion for AHF-Arbors at Huntsville I, LLC and AHF-Arbors at Huntsville II, LLC v. Walker County Appraisal District (Case Nos. 10-0683 and 10-0714) that upholds the ad valorem tax exemption for community housing development organizations (CHDOs) and resolves appellate court opinions that had provided divergent interpretations of Section 11.182 of the Texas Tax Code.

Today, the Texas Supreme Court denied the petitions of the appellants in Cameron Village, Ltd. v. Jim Wells County Appraisal District and Jim Wells County Appraisal Review Board and Primrose Houston 7 Housing, LP v. Harris County Appraisal District and Harris County Appraisal Review Board.
